Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald - 19 Easter Eggs & References Explained
5. The Mirror Of Erised
The Mirror of Erised makes an appearance in the movie, when Dumbledore stares into it and witnesses a vision of Grindelwald.
Of course, the famed mirror is a classic Potter staple, first appearing way back in The Philosopher's Stone and serving to reflect to the user their most passionate desires (in Harry's case, his parents).
In respect to Dumbledore this is especially interesting as it quite blatantly hints at the not-so-subtle implied gay relationship between himself and Grindelwald in the past, even if an older Dumbledore would later claim he would only see socks when staring into the mirror (which could either be the truth or repression).
Also, "Erised" is desire backwards, in case you didn't realise.
