Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald Final Trailer Reaction: 8 Ups & 2 Downs

1. The Most Unnecessary Spoiler Ever

Nagini Fantastic Beasts

Did we REALLY need to know that Claudia Kim's Maledictus is Nagini? That had been one of the more interesting theoretical points raised in the marketing and to have it so openly revealed completely devalues the reveal. There's no logic behind it other than a cheap fan-reaction and it's a pretty sorry thing to have happened.

Other than that and the fairly on the nose hints of how Grindelwald escapes (less important) and the fact that Zoe Kravitz's Leta Lestrange is the villain's right-hand woman (more important), the trailer actually does well to balance reveals without spoiling too much. There are lots of hints in there, in other words, but nothing much that gives too much away beyond an idea of what might happen.

That's how a trailer should sell a story, not just openly spoiling a huge point for no apparent reason. Especially when JK Rowling claims she's been sitting on the secret for TWENTY YEARS.

And now to the positives...
