Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald Trailer Breakdown - 19 Things You Must See
13. Grindelwald Looks...Not Terrible?
Easily the biggest complaint about the previous film was the seemingly out-of-nowhere appearance of Johnny Depp, revealing himself to be the true visage of the villainous Gellert Grindelwald.
Depp's get-up was totally ridiculous, but at least the filmmakers appear to have taken the criticism to heart, giving Grindelwald a far more bedraggled, creepy appearance here, as Dumbledore informs Newt, "I can't move against Grindelwald. It has to be you."
The new look doesn't inspire laughs, which is really all it needed in order to pass muster. Earlier in the trailer, however, the villain can also be seen from behind, addressing what seems to be the Wizengamot alongside Vinda Rosier (Poppy Corby-Tuech), who is clutching a magical orb of some kind.
Here Grindelwald appears far more dapper, and if we assume this scene takes place after he breaks free from jail, fingers crossed he doesn't just return to his laughable hairstyle from the end of the first movie.
