Fantastic Four: 10 Villains Who Would Have Been Better Than Dr Doom
3. Kang the Conqueror
Born in the 30th Century, Kang was a brilliant scientist and scholar who discovered time travel thanks to technology left behind by Dr Doom. Arriving in Ancient Egypt, Kang took on the identity of Pharaoh Rama-Tut, ruling the land until he was overthrown by the mutant Apocalypse. Kang has been travelling back and forth through time ever since, exploiting the advanced technology available in the future in order to rule the past and coming up against a variety of heroes, most notably the Fantastic Four and the X-men. As the next X-men film will focus on Apocalypse, it would make sense to at least mention the character in passing. Weirdly, Kang's real name is Nathaniel Richards, the same as Mr Fantastic's father, but the characters appear to be unrelated. Of course, time travel is always difficult to get right in movies. It's one thing to have it as a lynch pin of a television series, but in films it can often be a case of too many time periods or locations in one go. X-men: Days of Future Past worked well because it only focussed on two time periods; the future and the 1980s. If they want to use Kang in a future Fantastic Four film, they'll have to be careful how far they take the time travel premise to avoid overusing it and confusing the plot.
With a (nearly) useless degree in English literature and a personal trainer qualification he's never used, Freddie spends his times writing things that he hopes will somehow pay the rent. He's also a former professional singer, and plays the saxophone and ukulele. He's not really used to talking about himself in the third person, and would like to stop now, thanks.
