Fast & Furious 9: 20 WTF Moments

14. Cipher Spends Most Of The Movie Locked In A Box

Easily one of F9's big disappointments is how thoroughly sidelined Cipher (Charlize Theron) is throughout.

She spends almost the first two hours of the movie trapped in Otto's glass prison, showing up for two quick scenes where she quips to Jakob and compares Otto to Yoda.

To call it a waste of an Oscar-winning actress who is clearly so game to throw down with the family is an understatement, and even when she's finally let out of the box in act three, she spends her remaining screen time sat behind a screen commanding a drone.

While Cipher at least lives to fight another day by disappearing into the night once her drone is destroyed, it's infuriating that two straight movies haven't done much of interest with Charlize Theron.

Also, why they felt the need to give her a hideous bowl cut in this movie will flummox film theorists for decades.
