Fast & Furious Franchise: 20 Greatest Action Sequences Ranked
2. Fast Five - Rio Heist
Fast Five isn't quite as relentless as the later films in the series and mainly consists of several smaller action set-pieces as the film builds up towards its climax. Did this build-up pay off? Oh yes.
Fast Five's finale sees Dom and Bryan literally towing a large bank vault through the streets of Rio and it makes for one of the most creative, enthralling and dementedly brilliant car chases you'll ever see.
The direction, the practical film-making, the pacing, the white-knuckle thrills - everything in this sequence fires on all cylinders and it's an absolutely exhilarating - not to mention hilariously OTT - climax.
As well as this, after all the terrible things the main villain did throughout the film, his defeat and the team's escape with his money is so damn satisfying and uplifting.
Due to how fantastic this scene was, it seemed unlikely at the time that the franchise would ever manage to top this, but there is something even better...
