While the cast of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad has long been known, this weekend’s DC FanDome extravaganza has seen Warner Bros. go all out and give a first glimpse at each of the movie’s key players.

One such player, of course, is WWE icon John Cena. Like so many of his castmates, it had yet to be confirmed just who exactly Cena would be playing in The Suicide Squad. With the confirmation that, as certain speculation suggested, that Big Match John is indeed playing Peacemaker, fans have now been treated to a first look at Cena in full Peacemaker garb.

As Cena explains in the above video, the character of Peacemaker is an extreme pacifist who will go to whatever depths it takes to achieve his own version of tranquillity – even if that means amassing a hefty body count.

Designed to be both a sequel to, and a soft reboot of, 2016’s Suicide Squad, this August 6, 2021 release also features Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Idris Elba as Bloodsport, Storm Reid as Bloodsport’s daughter Tyla, Peter Capaldi as The Thinker, Nathan Fillion as mystery character T.D.K., David Dastmalchian as Polka-Dot Man, Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher, Flula Borg as Javelin, Pete Davidson as Blackguard, Alice Braga as Solsoria, Mayling Ng as Mongal, Michael Rooker as Savant, Sean Gunn as Weasel, and Steve Agee as the voice of King Shark.
