In news no one could have ever seen coming, Michael Keaton is in talks to return as Bruce Wayne in The Flash. The actor played the Caped Crusader in 1989's Batman and 1992 sequel Batman Returns, but in this new DC Universe created by the Fastest Man Alive (more on that later), he will have spent the past thirty years protecting Gotham City.

Both Batman Forever and Batman & Robin will be forgotten about, as will Ben Affleck's version of the character. Whether Barry Allen will remember being recruited to the Justice League by that different Bruce remains to be seen, but seeing as the actor has zero interest in returning to the role, this is a clever way to give the DCEU a new Batman who is reportedly set to act as a mentor to younger heroes.

Batgirl is one of those, though there's understandably speculation that he will also train Terry McGinnis, a character comic book and DC animation fans will know best as Batman Beyond. There are a lot of exciting possibilities moving forward by bringing back this Batman, but it also means Robert Pattinson's version will exist in his own, separate universe.
