Flatliners Review: 3 Ups & 8 Downs

1. The Performances Are Rock Solid

And finally, as bad as the film often is, it's hard to knock the five central performers, who all put in fine work with the rather sloppy material they're given.

Ellen Page in particular is really trying to make it all come together, and though there's only so much even the best actors can do, this cast does about as well as should be reasonably expected.

Granted, it's hard not to wince every time Diego Luna is on screen playing a character whose arc makes no sense whatsoever, but even Daniel Day-Lewis himself couldn't pull that off convincingly.

They won't be getting any Razzie nominations next year, basically, and don't embarrass themselves anymore than the script allows them to.
