Part of the reason certain sections of the internet are getting excited about Johnasson's casting (and probably why they were stoked when The Wolf Of Wall Street's Margot Robbie was in talks to star in the film earlier this year) in Ghost In The Shell is because they realise how much nudity is present in the series. And all totally gratuitous because, you know, that happens a lot in anime and manga, for better or for worse. Normally for worse. In the case of Ghost In The Shell, the argument for how much time the Major spends in her birthday suit (or else in a skimpy costume that leaves little to the imagination) is put down to her being a robot person. She doesn't care. She doesn't have feelings like embarrassment, shame, is unburdened by society's standards. She has a job to do, dammit, and she's going to it, even if she's wearing a borderline swimming costume in the middle of a fire fight. How Hollywood interprets that remains to be seen.
