Ghostbusters 3: 10 Suggestions to Make It Not Suck

6. Include Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver)

Nowadays Sigourney Weaver is considered something of a queen bee in Hollywood thanks in large part to her turn as Ellen Ripley in the Alien series. But you've also got give credit to (amongst many other things) her appearance as one half of 80€™s comedy€™s greatest supernaturally motivated on-screen romances of all time. Dana Barrett was of course Peter Venkman€™s long-term will-they-won€™t-they-maybe-but-she's-possessed love interest In Ghostbusters and mother to Oscar, the Ghostbusters II baby that caused all the trouble. I€™d love to see Weaver reprise her role in Ghostbusters II but only alongside Peter Venkman (again, without him, what€™s the point?) This€™d also allow us to see how her son Oscar is developing after his half-possession by a deranged painting (I€™d guess not so well). Again, if there is to be a third movie, why reboot completely, why lose the original central cast? We know Sigourney Weaver is still a top drawer performer and she€™s also intrinsically a part of the Ghostbusters mythology. If they can get her for Ghostbusters III, then they totally should. Mind you, with Murray so adamant that he won€™t be returning as Venkman, the urge would probably be to use her to simply explain his absence to the audience and then have done with her. I mean, where else would she fit? Honestly, Bill Murray€™s supposed disinterest in the project has thrown a worrying curveball. Without him, where does anything fit?
