Ghostbusters 3: 7 Big News Revelations About 2020's Upcoming Sequel
5. Finn Wolfhard And Carrie Coons Are In Talks
If you're looking to cast a teenage boy these days, there's one name right at the top of the list: Finn Wolfhard. On the back of his appearances in Stranger Things and It, the actor's profile has grown at a meteoric rate (albeit on a reverse trajectory) and his association with any project is a bonus.
So it's great to hear that he has been in talks to play one of the new leads alongside the older Ghostbusters and his on-screen mother, who could also be played by Carrie Coons.
Coons is most well-known for her part as Nora Durst in The Leftovers and on Fargo season 3 and her character's importance to the plot will hopefully ease concerns - most publicly voiced by Leslie Jones in her Twitter rant response to the movie's announcement - that the film would exclude female representation:
“So insulting. Like f*ck —- us. We dint count. It’s like something trump would do. (Trump voice)’Gonna redo ghostbusteeeeers, better with men, will be huge. Those women ain’t ghostbusteeeeers’ ugh so annoying. Such a dick move. And I don’t give f— I’m saying something!!”
Coons' character would be the lead, according to EW, which would certainly add a new dimension to the film compared to what's gone before.
