Ghostbusters: Every Cameo Ranked From Worst To Best
1. Harold Ramis
Role: None (he's memorialised instead)
Given Paul Feig's agenda to make sure his Ghostbusters was as different to the originals as possible (in order to consciously avoid direct comparison), I probably would have accepted a complete lack of actual cameos from the original cast. It certainly would have been less distracting.
But the one thing that absolutely had to be done within the film was some sort of acknowledgment of the passing of Harold Ramis. Just as the Jurassic World statue of John Hammond stands as a monument to actor Richard Attenborough, the bronze bust we see in the background of Erin Gilbert's opening sequence is an appropriate, fitting nod to Ramis.
Obviously, it stretches the rules of cameos, but the lingering camera and the manner of the appearance definitely confirms that it is intended to be taken in a similar celebratory spirit.
