Ghostbusters Review: 6 Ups And 4 Downs

1. Slimer Is An Unnecessary Irritant

OK, wow. Those first three downs were pretty heavy, huh (although not enough to overpower the humour, character and themes). Let’s round things out on something a little more fun, and one that’ll probably be music to any detractor’s ears – Slimer doesn’t work.

All the other references are nicely pitched, but this one is so obvious and obnoxious and unfunny it doesn’t work. It's pure fan service, with no purpose in Ghostbusters 2016 as a movie; a big green turd turning up randomly in the third act just doesn’t fit with the tone the film’s being working for. I know you kinda have to include him, but there's better ways that this execution.

There’s also the female Slimer sh*t, which is just… I mean… HOW DOES THAT WORK?
