Golden Globes 2021: Biggest Surprises & The Worst Snubs
2. Da 5 Bloods Is Shut Out Totally
When Spike Lee makes a film, those in the know take notice and watch. He is a master of his craft and one of the original artists that has constantly questioned the role and treatment of black people in society.
So, when he returned this year with Da 5 Bloods, many just assumed when awards season rolled around, he would be there with his film.
Not only has Delroy Lindo been denied a nomination for his career-best performance, but the late Chadwick Boseman's memory has been insulted with their call to nominate both Jared Leto and Bill Murray over him. Nothing against either, they were great in their films... however, Boseman was just awesome as a fallen Vietnam soldier that haunts the memories of his friends as they return to the region to collect his remains and find their gold.
The Hollywood Foreign Press did nominate Boseman for his role in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. The Academy will probably nominate Da 5 Bloods in its expanded Best Picture list and may even see that Boseman gets the double nomination he deserves.
