Guardians Of The Galaxy: 20 Easter Eggs & References You Must See
7. Ronan's Mighty Hammer
Like the heroes of the Guardians Of The Galaxy, the main villain Ronan The Accuser has a long and chequered history. He made his debut in the pages of the Fantastic Four (and yet is fair game for Marvel to use somehow) and has spent most of the intervening fifty years as an irredeemably evil foe. Born on the planet Hala, the capital of the Kree Empire, Ronan becomes a member of the Accuser Corps, the Kree equivalent of military governors-cum-judges. He's a bit like Judge Dredd, but in space. And possibly worse? The movie version of Ronan, played by Lee Pace, is reasonably faithful to his comic book iteration. He rises through the ranks of the Corps until he becomes the Supreme Accuser of the Kree Empire, which allows him to do pretty much anything he wants. A right he frequently indulges, frequently trying to overthrow the Kree government or else causing trouble on other planets. One of the more interesting developments for Ronan has been his slow evolution into a more heroic, noble figure. This might not necessarily happen in the films, what with him getting exploded and all, but comic book characters have come back from worse. Pace is a good actor, too, so if Marvel continue to hew closely to the source material could it be possible that a Guardians sequel will see the group teaming up with a reformed Accuser?
