Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2: 10 Reasons The Original Is Better

1. It Felt Fresh & Novel

All of these things considered, the original film simply had a fresh, novel style and tone that would be incredibly difficult for anyone to recapture, even with a cast and crew this ridiculously talented.

Gunn did a solid job attempting to match the first film's thrills, and while he didn't totally succeed, few are going to come away from Vol. 2 feeling thoroughly short-changed.

Simply, the bizarre characters, the pop-culture references (this time it's David Hasselhoff instead of Kevin Bacon) and the barmy visuals were all like nothing else that came out in 2014, but since then the MCU has become decidedly weirder, and so the oddball has become more normalised.

Will Guardians Vol. 3 manage to wipe away the cobwebs and outdo both of its predecessors? We'll have to wait and see.
