Although David Gordon Green and Danny McBride are unknown quantities in horror, John Carpenter's involvement in the new Halloween should lay most fan fears to rest.

The series mastermind is on board as executive producer and a creative advisor, and reports suggest the man himself has given the screenplay two thumbs up.

According to Arrow in the Head, Carpenter is so enthusiastic about the project that he wants to provide the soundtrack. His original piano score is one of the most memorable ever to feature in the horror genre, so this will be music to the fans' ears.

Carpenter has not been involved in the series since 1983's Michael Myers-free Halloween III, but having him back on board for its 10th anniversary is fitting.

Blumhouse Productions, the studio behind Paranormal Activity, Insidious and Sinister, is bankrolling the movie. The firm has a reputation for getting the most out of tight budgets, the same ethos the original Halloween was built on.
