2. Repulsion (1965)

In Repulsion, Roman Polanski uses a Hitchcock-like style to take us into the nightmare of a woman slowly going insane. I'm no fan of Polanski, but he did a great job on this movie. Carol Ledoux (Catherine Deneuve) is a young manicurist left alone in a house in London. She slowly begins to see cracks in her walls that grow larger the more the cracks in her unstable mind expand, until at last she retreats into total catatonia. Along the way we get to see her bludgeon and slash a couple of guys to death, dump a body in a bath where obviously nobody will ever find it, and get felt up by a wall (see the picture above). While this movie isn't specifically about evil hands, it is so well done and such a great psychological horror film that I felt I had to include it here. Don't miss this one.
