Harry Potter: 10 Amazing Chapters That Aren’t In The Movies

6. The Lion And The Serpent (The Order Of The Phoenix)

There’s no Quidditch in the fifth Harry Potter movie, and this is a shame because the original tale features one of the most entertaining matches in the series.

The first game of the season – Gryffindor versus Slytherin – is loaded with great moments. Throughout the match, the Slytherins sing a song about Ron’s terrible goalkeeping abilities, which – despite being rather mean – is laugh-out-loud funny due to how childish it is.

But the chapter takes a dark turn when Malfoy decides to insult the Weasleys’ parents and Harry’s mother. Bristling with rage, Harry and George sprint forwards and start beating him up. It’s a brutal thing to do, but it’s immensely satisfying to read. Unfortunately, Umbridge uses this opportunity to ban Harry and George from playing Quidditch for the rest of the season.

Again, there’s nothing here that’s integral to the central story, but when it comes to entertaining moments, this chapter is full of them. It’s intense, funny, shocking, and brutal. It even ends on a bit of a cliffhanger due to Hagrid’s sudden reappearance.
