Harry Potter: 10 Most Evil Gryffindors Of All Time

Not all Gryffindors are daring, strong-nerved or chivalrous.

Their daring, nerve and chivalry, set the Gryffindors apart. Or do they? The Gryffindors have long been viewed as the leader of the Hogwarts Houses pecking order. This is the house that most of the great heroes and heroines belong to, the one that has always promoted tolerance and inclusivity towards all; in comparison to the rest at least.

However, with all that being said, by no means were Godric Gryffindor’s name bearers exempt from their own vices. Throughout the existence of Hogwarts, there have been a fair share of Gryffindors who have put more people in trouble than they have saved. Sometimes it would be as simple as school bullying, other times it was as serious as life or death betrayal.

While some of these names such as Peter Pettigrew are prominent figures in the Harry Potter lore, other don’t seem to get as much attention for their misdeeds.

A quick side note before starting, most of the people on this list weren’t necessarily outright evil; they simply made life difficult for others or committed the cardinal sin for a Gryffindor: cowardice.

10. Cormac McLaggen

Harry’s one year senior in school, Cormac McLaggen is the typical high school rich kid with an obnoxious attitude. Coming from an influential family with significant sway in the Ministry of Magic, McLaggen was shown to look down upon those around him.

He made disparaging remarks about Ron and Ginny due to their outlook and financial standing, gave Hermione a really uncomfortable time when accompanying her to the Slug Club Christmas dinner and even tried to explain Quidditch to Harry despite not having half the knowledge of the latter.

In the end he did make amends by fighting at the Battle of Hogwarts, but still his less than noble deeds should not go unnoticed either.

After battling Galactus and pinning Hulk Hogan in the main event of Wrestlemania, I've taken a break from living in fantasy worlds, to focus on writing about them. I'm a comic book geek, a wrestling mark, a break dancer, and a scientist. One of those things may not be true.
