Harry Potter: 10 Most Powerful Gryffindor Students Ranked
6. Sirius Black
Harry may never have known his parents, but he at least did have a godfather that he could rely on, even if this was only for a short period of time. Sirius Black was taken from Harry far too soon after finally coming into the boy's life, but he still managed to make quite an impression.
As yet another original member of the Order of the Phoenix and , Sirius' skill as a wizard, particularly when it comes to Defence Against the Dark Arts goes without saying, as does his commitment to doing the right thing, and the bravery for which he was put in Gryffindor in the first place.
This was all on show once again as he battled some of Lord Voldemort's strongest Death Eaters in the Department of Mysteries. Though he was ultimately killed by Bellatrix, he helped saved the lives of many of the Dumbledore's Army members, and fought fiercely by Harry's side.
Perhaps the greatest showing of Sirius' power is the fact that he resisted the Dementors for 12 years in an Azkaban cell, and escaped their grasp with his mind fully in tact. It may have been the thought of Peter Pettigrew that kept him going for over a decade, but he found his way back to civilisation alive and well all on his own.
