Hot off the death of Dobby (you MONSTERS), Harry, Hermione and Ron returned for the finale to end all finales, leading Dumbledore's Army and the Order Of The Phoenix in a rebellion to take back and then defend Hogwarts from Voldemort's surging forces.

It was always going to be a difficult task to accept the end of the franchise (or the temporary end as it happened), but the commitment to spectacle and allowing the emotion of the story to ring true was an incredibly smart approach. It's a shame this wasn't a single film, but watching both Deathly Hallows films back to back absolutely improves both.

The Good

The Battle Of Hogwarts is the muscle-bound finale this franchise deserved, with true emotional stakes, incredible spectacle and resolutions to every major character's arcs. It might have hurt that it came to an end, but this was exactly how it should have gone.

And Ralph Fiennes' performance as Voldemort is an absolute dream: it is without restraint, horribly charismatic and perversely funny and this is the moment he truly earned his billing as the Dark Lord.

The Bad

The lack of the giants in the Battle Of Hogwarts will always be a bone of contention.
