Harry Potter: Fan-Casting The Inevitable Cursed Child Movie

4. Jaeden Lieberher As Albus Severus Potter

Why He's Right For The Role

While JK Rowling famously insisted she only wanted British actors for the main roles in the Potter films, she just worked with a talented group of Americans on Fantastic Beasts, and cast Johnny Depp as Grindelwald, a character who could easily have been played by a Brit.

So, she may be open to casting more actors from across the pond in her future projects, and since Albus Potter is the lead in Cursed Child, it'll take a young actor with experience to fully pull the part off.

Jaeden Lieberher successfully led Midnight Special to rave reviews, and his character in that film, Alton Meyer, was a boy who started off quiet and subdued but slowly grew into a strong-willed, independent young man, just like Albus does in Cursed Child.

He even looked like a Potter in Midnight Special, too - just check out his mop of dark hair.

Chances Of It Happening

Honestly, the biggest thing working against Lieberher is his nationality. He's the right age (and would still be in a few years) and he's got bags of talent but it remains to be seen if a non-British actor playing a British wizard is even a possibility.

He's not very busy either, with an appearance in It already in the can and nothing else of note on the horizon. His star is slowly rising in the film industry, and it's only a matter of time until he lands a huge role.
