Harry Potter New TV Show: 25 Castings That Must Happen
17. Hugh Grant As Gilderoy Lockhart
As anyone who's seen Paddington 2 or Dungeons and Dragons: Honour Among Thieves knows, Hugh Grant is sublime at playing comedic villains.
In both cases he was simultaneously hysterical and detestable, thus capturing the exact vibe needed for Gilderoy Lockhart, the vain and hilariously insufferable supporting villain in The Chamber of Secrets.
Admittedly, Hugh Grant is now older than the character is meant to be, but if the character was aged up, then this could definitely work. A Lockhart played by Grant would be a worthy successor to Kenneth Branagh's wonderful performance as the character in the 2002 movie.
