The Hobbit: 10 Things You May Have Missed In The Battle Of The Five Armies

9. The Nazgûl Designs Invoke What's Seen With The One Ring

Although it doesn't take up much of the actual run time, the antics up at Dol Guldur provide an incredibly important backdrop to The Hobbit. The Necromancer (revealed in a move that surprised no one to be Sauron) is building his forces, given the previously flippant "dwarves reclaiming their home" plot much more significance. The dark lord isn't the only The Lord of The Rings baddie hiding out in the abandoned temple - as teased in the previous films, the Nazgûl, the nine men who possessed humanity's rings of power, are chilling there as well. The fight between their ghostly apparitions and The White Council is one of the film's best scenes. What initially stands out is that in this trilogy, each king has their own distinct armour design. Although this may seem to be different to The Lord Of The Rings - Witch-King aside, the ringwraiths were presented as rather indistinct - it's actually pretty faithful. You see, the various mangled crowns and different armour have been seen (briefly) before in their previous spiritual appearance - when Frodo wore the One Ring on Weathertop.
