Hopkins goes into the SLIPSTREAM

Anthony Hopkins puts his FRACTURE paycheck to good use with SLIPSTREAM, a film he wrote and directed

SLIPSTREAM looks like a film directed by a much younger man. By that I don't mean to offend Sir Anthony (hey, he's not reading anyway!) but if I didn't know he was behind this film I would've assumed it came from someone like Darren Aronofsky or Richard Kelly, not someone who's been in the game for 40 or so years. The trailer is online at Yahoo! Movies and it looks very... experimental. IMDB has the following synopsis:

"Aging screenwriter Felix Bonhoeffer has lived his life in two states of existence: in reality and his own interior world. While working on a murder mystery script, and unaware that his brain is on the verge of implosion, Felix is baffled when his characters start to appear in his life, and vice versa."
I enjoy films that are challenging and take some effort and thought to decode. Of course, many of these mindfuck movies are awful (if REVOLVER isn't an attempt at a smart movie from a dumb filmmaker then I don't know what is), but occasionally you'll find a film that you just want to revisit again and again. We'll have to wait to see which category this film falls into. SLIPSTREAM is written, directed and scored by Anthony Hopkins and stars Christian Slater, John Turturro, Michael Clarke Duncan, Jeffrey Tambor, and you'll never guess who... Will Reynolds hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
