20 Horror Franchises That NEED To Come Back

19. The Ring

Despite 2002's Hollywood remake of The Ring being both the first and most successful J-horror reimagining, it's surprising how little has been done with the stateside franchise in the past few decades since.

2005's The Ring Two was admittedly a critical failure and grossed significantly less than its predecessor, enough that another 12 years passed before Rings - a glorified soft reboot which fared even less well with critics and audiences.

But this is less a case of people being tired of the IP than the creative simply not working - the central concept of The Ring is iconic in its own right and absolutely ripe for being reworked in the era of social media.

So, what exactly is Hollywood doing here? We've gone almost a decade without another Ring movie, and considering the potential of a new Ring from a filmmaker with a real vision, it's baffling that nothing's being done with it.
