How Jane Foster Becomes Thor

1. What To Expect From Thor: Love And Thunder

Having appeared in Thor, Thor: The Dark World, and Avengers: Endgame, Natalie Portman's Jane Foster is to take centre-stage in Taika Waititi's Thor: Love and Thunder.

A scene that didn't make it into the final cut of Endgame actually revealed that Jane was one of those who disappeared courtesy of Thanos' infamous snap. But either way, Jane Foster is back amongst the living and set for huge things in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In Thor: Love and Thunder, Jane will be handed the mantle of Thor.

Exact plot specifics are being kept under wraps at this stage, although the early word on Love and Thunder says that Jane's story will be similar to her comic book counterpart's when it comes to how she becomes Thor. As such, that suggests that Portman's Foster will face cancer in the midst of becoming the Goddess of Thunder.

Elsewhere in the movie, Chris Hemsworth will be back as the Odinson, Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie will find herself on the search to find a queen to help her rule over New Asgard, and Christian Bale has joined the MCU as the mystery 'big bad' of the picture.

At present, Thor: Love and Thunder is set for a February 11, 2022 release - although the current uncertainty and delays within the entertainment industry mean that date could well change by the time all is said and done.
