How The Avengers Could Line Up After Infinity War

1. Iron Man... In His Last Appearance?

Robert Downey Jr. has led the MCU since its very beginning, but with the franchise's ten year anniversary now in sight, it's looking increasingly likely that the Iron Man actor could be absenting the superhero spotlight for good.

Irrespective of where your feelings lie on that particular issue, Downey Jr.'s inevitable Avengers departure is likely to happen sooner rather than later, and with a massive change of the guard in store for the series regardless of the actor's involvement, Avengers 4 is set to be a game-changer in every sense of the word.

One would imagine that shellhead will lead the way in both of these upcoming ensembles, but whereas certain characters are marked for death, or some other kind of tragedy, Tony's fate is less clear. Will he retire for good? Or - to think the unthinkable - could he pass away? He's bound to feature prominently in Avengers 4 either way, but with fans having braced themselves for so many other deaths, could Iron Man's be the one that hits home the most?
