How The MCU's X-Men COULD Look
4. Gambit
Oh, dear sweet Gambit. How you have been mistreated.
Gambit's sole live action appearance was in the universally derided X-Men Origins: Wolverine, where he was played by a bowler hat-wearing Taylor Kitsch. The powers were spot-on, and the trench coat was accurate enough, but that's about it. Other than that, he was just an average guy, with very little to signify that he was, in fact, the Ragin' Cajun himself. After that, Gambit was slated to headline his own movie, with Channing Tatum in the titular role.
The movie lost director after director before it was finally cancelled by Disney following its acquisition of 20th Century Fox, which is a shame. It's entirely possible that Tatum could've brought the same swagger and charm to the role that Ryan Reynolds brought to Deadpool.
If Disney were to proceed with Tatum as Gambit (even if he's just part of an ensemble), they could do a lot worse than Werneck's vision. Here, he keeps the classic look and streamlines it. He still rocks that long, brown trench coat, and let's face it: Gambit wouldn't be Gambit without the trench coat. Just like his comic counterpart, the torso is mostly purple, but the black V that plunges from his neck to his chest is filled in with a purple X. The purple now extends down his legs, which it traditionally hasn't, but it helps tie the look together, rather than abruptly cutting off the purple at his waist.
The most noticeable alteration comes in Gambit's hair. Here, he sports shaved sides, and keeps it long on top. That's not unusual for Gambit, but the ponytail is something new. What's interesting is that his beard seems to take the place of the black mask/frame he traditionally wears around his face. In all honesty, this makes more practical sense.
