How The MCU's X-Men COULD Look
3. Cyclops
Speaking of heroes being mistreated...
For all the things the X-Men movies got right, Cyclops was one of the things it got massively, massively wrong. This mishandling was twofold. First, he was never the natural-born leader that he was in the comics. In that regard, he was mishandled on a character level.
Secondly, his outfit was, well... let's say it was boring. That's generous, considering that Cyclops - who, aside from Charles Xavier, was most often the leader of the X-Men - was burdened with the same dull black leather as everyone else. Hell, his X belt buckle didn't even have any color do it. What a waste. Tye Sheridan's incarnation didn't fare much better, as he wore unremarkable, unfaithful suits throughout his tenure, save for a quick shot of a gloriously comics-accurate costume toward the end of the film.
This outfit is much more faithful to the one worn in the source material. Mostly blue, this version is a nice reprieve from the bland black leather we got for so long. In one of his comic book costumes, yellow straps form a large Y on the left side of his chest, converging on a red X symbol. Here, that Y has been replaced with a yellow X in the center of his chest. The suit could go for a little more red if it's looking for more comics accuracy, but on the whole, it's a magnificently sleek design worthy of the leader of the X-Men.
