How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World Review - 5 Ups & 3 Downs

3. The Superb Voice Cast

True to form, the voice cast once again knocks it out of the park here, as Jay Baruchel's Hiccup leads the pack, with his distinct nasal register lending Hiccup a sure awkward charm as ever.

America Ferrera is also terrific as Hiccup's partner Astrid, Cate Blanchett is underused yet solid as Hiccup's mother Valka, and Gerard Butler gets one more delightful go-around in flashback form as Stoick.

There certainly aren't any obvious paycheck roles among the cast: everyone involved sounds like they believe in the property and wanted to deliver as affecting a finale to the series as possible.

The only real bone of contention is that Tuffnut's recasting following T.J. Miller's legal troubles does prove a tad distracting on occasion. Beyond that, the voice roster is a total home-run.
