"I'm Just Going To Hurt You... A Little" - Suicide Squad PG-13 Rating Confirmed

But will they do an R-rated cut?

Get the "Well, no sh*t" claxon ready - Suicide Squad has been rated PG-13.

Really, what did you expect? The DC Extended Universe may be skewing darker than Marvel, but that never meant they'd go full-on batsh*t violent, with plenty of titillation and profanity for good measure - you still have to think of the family dollar (something the Skwad will definitely be concerned about given the pressure and potential brought about by Batman V Superman's lesser performance).

The big question with this is, of course, how it will affect Jared Leto's take on the Joker. He can't be torturing people in every other scene and flinging used condoms at Margot Robbie if six year olds are watching, but there's no avoiding that a big part of the fan hype around the character has been the promise of a darker take. Although, being rational grown-ups and not teenagers who think body-count is proportional to quality, we should know this doesn't really matter. After all, Heath Ledger managed to leave quite an impact and The Dark Knight had the same rating.

Besides, given the precedent set by Batman V Superman and that David Ayer is a pretty adult-inclined director, I wouldn't be surprised if an R-rated cut was subsequently announced, giving all the sadism you'd expect from a supervillain team-up.

Suicide Squad is in cinemas from 5th August.
