Indy, Helena, and Helena's young sidekick Teddy (Ethann Isidore) then travel to Athens in order to track down the second part of the Dial, meeting up with Indy's old pal Renaldo (Antonio Banderas), a legendary diver.

In a wildly overlong subplot, Indy and Helena go for a dive to the bottom bottom of the Aegean Sea to find an artefact containing the location of the Dial's second half, all while Banderas... doesn't do much at all.

Indy and Helena eventually find the artefact and resurface, where they're all met by Voller and his men, who take the artefact and attempt to force Indy to translate its coded message by holding Renaldo at gunpoint.

Indy refuses, and so Voller shoots Renaldo in the leg and then fatally shoots him in the chest, ensuring that the movie cast an actor as perfect for an Indiana Jones movie as Antonio Banderas and then just... did nothing interesting with him.
