James Bond: 10 Greatest Opening Title Sequences

8. The Living Daylights

The 1980s was an excellent period for people who love cheesy music and the opening sequence to the 1987 Bond movie, The Living Daylights, perfectly encapsulates this. It could be an 80s rock music video! The sequence boasts a variety of leading ladies showcasing their gymnastic skills, whilst a hand occasionally fires a gun. Vintage Bond. Timothy Dalton took on the responsibility of playing Bond in this movie and he brought a darker and grittier side to the character - one that audiences had seen not seen before. Looking back on Dalton's performance, it's clear to see that Daniel Craig has almost certainly drawn on Dalton's portrayal of the spy when thinking about his own character for the new "rebooted" series. The theme music for the film comes courtesy of most 80s-band-of-80s-bands, A-ha. Fresh from the commercial success of the Duran Duran theme for A View to a Kill, the Bond executives continued to draw on the 80s magic by using the Norwegian pop group here. Some pub quiz trivia for you: A-ha remain the only non-British or American group to perform a Bond opening theme tune.
