James Gandolfini: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked
3. Eddie - The Juror (1996)
Terminal Velocity was, unfortunately, partially responsible for getting him typecast as a mobster type for years after. Thankfully that lead to some of the best acting of his career, but the immediate after effect was to lumber him in lots of crummy film that nobody bothered watching outside of their breath cinematic runs. One such strikingly mediocre movie was The Juror, in which Gandolfini played a mob enforcer with a conscience. Sounds familiar, eh? Slightly less celebrated than The Sopranos, mind. In fact it holds a 14% on Rotten Tomatoes and star Demi Moore earned a Razzie for her performance as Annie Laird, a single mother and sculptor who gets picked for jury duty for a mafia trial. Alec Baldwin, meanwhile, appears as a mobster sent to intimidate her, wining and dining her and then asking her to lay off. When he murders her best friend, just to let her know he's serious, Gandolfini's Eddie is the one who tries to get him done for it. He's more plot device than character. What a waste.
