Jumping The Shark 2: 8 More Franchise Derailing Films

3. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

In 2009, Michael Bay ignored his naysayers and proved that a disgustingly racist, sexist and incomprehensible film could make over 800 million at the world-wide box office. Clocking in at just under seven hours, Revenge of the Fallen is the cinematic equivalent of being bludgeoned by a hammer. Critics universally panned the film and even Michael Bay (director of such classics as Pearl Harbor and Bad Boys 2) felt obligated to apologize for his fiasco calling it "crap". The addition of twin jive-talking robots Mudflap and Skids proved to be Bay's biggest error. The two embodied the worst kinds of racist stereotypes and put many off what should have been a piece of popcorn fluff for the whole family. Also, robot testicles. The damage done to the Transformer's brand didn't prevent the next sequel Transformers: Dark of the Moon from making a mint and it seems only divine intervention will stop Transformers 4: the Quest for Peace from being made.
