Jurassic World: 10 Reasons It's The Worst Movie In The Franchise
8. The Villain Is A Moron
Of all the stupid characters to be found in Jurassic World, perhaps none are quite as moronic as Vincent D'Onofrio's Vic Hoskins. Fresh from Daredevil, in which D'Onofrio gives a masterclass in how to humanise the villain, anyone expecting the actor to repeat such greatness here will only be disappointed. D'Onofrio is appropriately slick and gung-ho in the role of InGen's scheming man on the inside, but Hoskins is a long way from Wilson Fisk. Where Fisk was cunning and had understandable motivations, Hoskins is basically an idiot driven solely by the film's need to get the Raptors out for the audience's enjoyment. Hoskins has a one-track mind, minus the critical thinking you'd imagine he'd have to possess in order to get to his position: he wants to weaponise the Velociraptors by releasing them on an island full of paying guests, because testing them simply can't wait a minute longer. By the time he's trying to reason with a Raptor like it's a potential business partner ("I'm on your side!"), it becomes clear that Hoskins is basically braindead, and that the Jurassic franchise has its worst human villain to date.
