Justice League: 9 Biggest Mistakes It's Already Made

3. The Wrong Choice Of Villain

No doubt Steppenwolf and his Parademons will provide a stern test of the Justice League's combined might, but the movie's primary villain should have been Darkseid.

The tyrannical ruler of Apokolips is a formidable foe, one of the most powerful beings in the DC Universe and arguably the superhero team's arch nemesis.

Steppenwolf, on the other hand, is one of his cohorts, more an end-of-level guardian than a final boss, if we're talking in video game terms.

No doubt Zack Snyder is planning to introduce Darkseid to the DC cinematic universe - probably as an obvious setup for a future sequel - but why not give the Justice League the A-list villain they deserve right off the bat?

Assuming the movie is going to be a runaway success that spawns a series of sequels for which major characters can be withheld is presumptuous - and if this isn't the case, it could be years before we see Darkseid on the big screen.

A growing number of films in shared cinematic universes are make the mistake of hoarding key content for future sequels and spending too much of time setting up the next dozen or so chapters.

Are strong, standalone stories too much to ask for?
