Having already put together scores for Tim Burton's Batman and Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Danny Elfman is set to see his superhero movie CV boosted even further, after he was hired to compose on Justice League, according to THR.

The legendary composer has already overseen musical accompaniment for a huge collection of comic book movies. Aside from the two Batman flicks and Ultron, he's also been responsible for Spider-Man, Hellboy 2, Men In Black, Hulk and Dick Tracy. In other words, he has a lot of experience with capes and spandex.

Elfman has been brought in just as Joss Whedon kicks off additional filming in London in the wake of Zack Snyder's hiatus, with The Simpsons' theme creator seemingly replacing Junkie XL, who scored Batman v Superman. The outgoing musician - who will now work on Tomb Raider - released a statement on the news:

"As my mentor Hans Zimmer told me — you haven't made it in Hollywood as a composer until you get replaced on a project. So I guess [I] finally graduated this week. It pains me to leave the project, but a big thanks to Zack for asking me to part of his vision, and I wish Danny, Joss and Warner Bros all the best with Justice League."

Joss Whedon actually hired Elfman late on Avengers: Age Of Ultron, adding to what Brian Tyler had already put together. He's clearly something of a go-to guy in last minute pinches.

Quite whether this means anything for the tone of the movie remains to be seen, but Elfman does have a particularly grand style of composition. You could see him being brought in to lighten things up.
