Justice League: Deal To Release The Snyder Cut IMMINENT

Well, well, well.

It looks like we're actually going to get to see the film Warner Bros never wanted anyone to. We're actually going to see what Zack Snyder's vision for Justice League was through more than teases on his own social media platform and unofficial leaks. Because the word on the street is that the fabled Snyder Cut is on its way.

This comes off the back of weekend rumours that Snyder screened his version of the film for studio executives earlier this year with several folk suggesting that they've seen the real deal. Or whatever completed version is actually viewable. If Jason Momoa is to be believed, it is "sick" - though with far more letters elongating that to practically gnarly length.

While the world began to ponder what that screening meant, it looks like things have been gathering pace in the meantime, with even more support greeting the film release's two year anniversary. And with Snyder seemingly content with showing his own version of the film to the trusted few, the noise for Warner Bros was always going to get louder.

Have they finally relented? Well, according to Grace Randolph they absolutely have. She says that the deal to release the Snyder Cut is closing and an announcement is imminent.

Her subtweet mentioning "a lot of people" seemingly refers to this tweet from Slash Film's Peter Sciretta, which was positively leapt on by Snyder Cut fans believing him to be confirming the film's existence after so long stubbornly refusing to do so...

Then again, he might just be playing games with the Snyder Cut crew and this is all a coincidence. Doesn't discount what Randolph is saying though.

So what's changed and why now?

Well, the global pandemic might have something to do with it and there's also the question of HBO Max. Randolph previously noted that the platform needs more of a launchpad release - something to really get subscriptions up (and having Friends as your flagship can really only get you so far). They don't yet have their Mandalorian selling point, which Disney+ did and they can't use the announced Green Lantern show in that position because it's been delayed, inevitably.

There's now some talk of the Snyder Cut being released as a miniseries on the platform, just as Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight was released on Netflix and it would make a lot of sense given the necessary new costs that were suggested it would take to get it out in one piece.

For now, we have to wait and see, but according to Randolph - and some notable others - we might not have to wait too long.
