Justice League Final Trailer Reactions - 6 Ups & 4 Downs
Oh hello, Superman.
It's something of a shame that any DCEU trailer release is marked by the drawing of battle lines and a race to see who can say the most extreme thing about it in the interest of either proving allegiance or disdain as quickly as possible. But that seems to be the world we're living in now, judging by the reactions to the final Justice League trailer that just landed.
Thanks to the tide of reactions, which seem to range from offering up first born children to Zack Snyder to public wailing and disgust, it's almost impossible to get a real feel for the authentic reception. Inevitably, it'll fall somewhere in the middle, with praise for some elements and criticism of others - because, crucially, it's possible to critique things you love, just as it's possible to praise things you want to hate. The final trailer is very much geared towards hype building. Mercilessly, it isn't just a statement of several key plot points in the hope of boosting the box office, and nor is it just a rehash of what we've seen before. There are revelations in there - of Superman, of Parademon origins, of action set-pieces - but it wants you to feel something, rather than to know something. And that's definitely to be admired.
It doesn't all work, and nor is it entirely disastrous (far from it in fact), so it's worth picking apart what worked and what sadly didn't.
First, the negatives...
