Justice League: The Snyder Cut - What The Cast And Crew Have Said About It

1. Zack Snyder: "Does It Exist? Of Course It Does"

We could dedicate an entire article to some of the things Zack Snyder has said about his Justice League cut (and in fact, we did!), so in this case, we're just going to stick with the most notable comments that he's made.

Unfortunately though, Snyder's statements on this matter haven't always been too clear. For example, he once said that his cut isn't fully finished (see the image below), but he didn't go into detail about exactly what that means.

Vero: @zacksnyder

Does "still some stuff I want to do" mean that he has extra scenes to shoot, or is it something as small as recording a line of dialogue, or tweaking the CGI in a single shot? And if the film isn't 100 percent finished... then how much is finished? 5 percent? 80 percent? 50 percent? We just don't know.

However, something that we do know is that the film's CGI is complete - at least, if Snyder's interaction with a fan is to be believed.

But after doing some digging, that can't be true, because in a shot Snyder shared to Vero - which is presumably a part of his cut - the CGI on Cyborg is clearly not done.

Snyder's conflicting comments about his cut have been frustrating and confusing, and it would certainly put a stop to the endless speculation if he came out with a definitive statement about which aspects of the Snyder Cut are finished, and which aren't.

Then again, maybe he wants people to keep speculating and wondering, to keep the interest in the Snyder Cut alive and thriving.

Elsewhere, Snyder once shared a picture of some film canisters labelled "JL Directors Cut", with the caption "Does it exist? Of course it does." Do these canisters contain a crude assembly cut, or a near-finalised Snyder Cut? He didn't specify.

On top of all this, there are rumours that Snyder wants to go back and record some additional scenes, and even more rumours that the Snyder Cut will one day appear on streaming service HBO Max. As for cold hard facts? They're in short supply.

So what do we think? Well, since Snyder got to shoot most of the footage he wanted, it's highly likely that he got to stitch all of that footage together to make a rough cut of his movie. But there almost certainly isn't a completely finalised, ready-for-release Snyder Cut just sitting on a shelf somewhere. If that was the case... then why not just release it? What could the studio possibly have to lose?

Snyder has an assembly cut of his movie - that we can believe. But it isn't done. It will still need a lot of work, and considering that Warner Bros. already sank $300 million into the theatrical version, we can't see them parting with tens of millions of dollars extra, with no guarantees that they'll make that investment back.

That being said, despite all these mixed signs, we genuinely hope to see the Snyder Cut one day, however - and if ever - it does get released.
