Justice League Trailer Reactions: 7 Ups & 3 Downs

1. It's Incredibly Dark

It's almost getting cliched to talk about how dark Zack Snyder's colour palette is: he started with a cold filter on Man Of Steel and then basically turned the lights off for Batman v Superman to sell atmosphere and dramatic weight. Unfortunately, it made watching some of the action scenes a chore.

Unfortunately, Justice League seems to make Batman v Superman look positively sunny. All of the action scenes (bar the shot of Wonder Woman fighting security guards) is set in almost pitch black. It might give it a false epic feel, but it would be infinitely simpler to enjoy your favourite characters doing awesome feats if you could actually see them.

Inevitably, any criticism of the tone (purely in terms of colour and light) is turned into Marvel propaganda by cynical fans, but there is a middle ground. You don't need to sacrifice drama by turning the contrast up a bit.
