Kevin Bacon: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

3. Val McKee - Tremors

Tremors perfect fusion of comedy and horror are what helped it become a permanent rental classic. Bacon stars as a dim-witted handyman trapped in a small desert town, who decides to leave on the day huge man-eating worms start to attack. Bacon takes the straight leading man role and twists it into something different; Val is kind of an idiot but his occasional flashes of inspiration help keep him alive. He brings great warmth to the character, ensuring his on-screen friendship with co-star Fred Ward is one of the best (and sadly most underrated) cinematic double acts ever. Bacon also displays his flair for comedy, seen as Val becomes increasingly frustrated with the ridiculous situation he's landed in. A number of shoddy straight to video sequels followed Tremors, none of which featured Bacon; though he has expressed interest in returning to his role for a TV series spin-off.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
