The Last Of Us Movie: 12 Reasons An Adaptation Is A Horrible Idea

6. Artifacts And Collectibles

Some of the best stories in The Last of Us were told through the myriad of artifacts and collectibles scattered throughout the world. Take the story of Ish, for example. From a beached boat to a doomed sewer civilisation, Ish€™s sad story was chronicled through the many notes that he left behind. We learned about Ish and his companions€™ struggle for survival and what it meant for them living in these unfortunate circumstances. The notes were touching and sad, but they also contained glimmers of hope. The perseverance of the human spirit was portrayed though these notes. There were so many other stories to peruse from artifacts and collectibles as well, from the Firefly pendants, to maps with frantic scribbles, to Ellie€™s backpack full of goodies, to the picture of Joel and Sarah, to the snarky last letter from Frank. You can also find a series of comics that improves Ellie€™s mood. In the game, these artifacts and collectibles convey the stark reality of the gravity of these characters€™ situations. These are the types of intricate details that would be lost in a film just for the sake of time constraints and a more concentrated focus on the main narrative.
