Lincoln: The Truth That Spielberg Failed To Mention

When I first saw Daniel Day-Lewis, the world's most able actor, dressed up in gear as Honest Abe, I like many was at first taken aback, wondering who this was, Daniel or Abraham himself? The life of the sixteenth President of the most powerful nation in the history of this planet is sketchy in places, particularly in sexuality and his views on racial issues. Apart from his constant re-reading of Shakespeare and Blackstone's legal commentary, he barely scraped the surface of novels or biography, instead mastering law and the most over-rated writer in history - the Bard himself. The Lincoln taught to children is not education, it is a relay of information printed into pages in layman's terms, and the information is almost never directed from more than one source, no contemporary biographies are studies, no accounts, only what the Education board says. Thankfully, I failed everything except English in school, and I made my own studies into Lincoln, coming to learn - prepare yourself, Christian reader - that he renounced Christianity early on, allegedly penning a book called "Infidelity", in it, he attempted to explain how the bible was false and self-contradictory and that Jesus was no more the son of God than any other man. Samuel Hill, Abe's then-employer, read the work and destroyed it. Naturally, historians will argue lack of evidence for this, and they have done, and they will no doubt primarily focus on the high inclusion and reference to God and religion in Presidential speeches, but this was pressured onto Honest Abe, who apparently wasn't all that honest. What may also shock the School-taught minds is that Lincoln was a passionate man, barely able to keep his hands off of women. But fear not, he remained entirely loyal to his intelligent wife, Mary Todd, who later went insane. Although, before they were married, he caught syphilis, according to his personal friend William Herndon. This disease would explain the deaths of three Lincoln children, prematurely of course, and also the insanity of his wife in her later years. Lincoln is shown in Spielberg's latest movie to be fighting for the slaves, but in truth, parting way from Tony Kushner's script on Doris Goodwin's okay book, Team of Rivals. Instead, contrary to this belief, Lincoln's only true concern was the preservation of the Union, for he considered the South to be paramount to his blessed Union. What is extremely well worth noting is that when Lincoln was pushing for abolition, his primarily starting goal had not just been freeing slaves, but shipping them all off somewhere else, colonizing them, as it were. These are facts not known to many, because a lot of people simply don't read. As our population grows, our intelligence weakens far beyond repair. Lincoln as God is well known, and like the presumed-god in the sky, he has his many faults, which I and other routinely point out, it just so happens that it falls upon deaf ears. Whilst Spielberg's Lincoln is a wonderful piece of Cinema, it fails to mention certain things about his slavery plans. Oh well, they weren't going to paint a negative picture now, were they?

I like Stanley Kubrick, Gore Vidal & Daniel Day-Lewis. I do not like the United States, Obama and most other Presidents.
