Logan: 10 Biggest Questions It Leaves Unanswered

4. How Does Mister Sinister Fit In?

X Men Apocalypse Essex Corp
Fox

The Question: Mister Sinister is first hinted at in the 1983-set post-credits scene of X-Men: Apocalypse, and the character was originally supposed to be introduced in Logan before James Mangold opted against it to retain the film's relatively grounded tone. If it's assumed that he's still in the picture somehow, how does he fit into this movie?

The Likely Answer: It's definitely weird that Nathaniel Essex exists in Apocalypse's 1983 and would potentially still be lingering around almost 50 years later in 2029 without anyone cutting him down, but the easy answer is that Essex is covertly bankrolling Transigen and is the new big bad in the X-Men universe.

Don't expect many (if any) references to this movie when he eventually does appear on-screen, but he's likely going to be the convenient puppet-master behind it all.
