Logan: 10 Biggest Questions It Leaves Unanswered
3. Why Will The Kids Suddenly Be Safe In Canada?
The Question: A big point is made about the child experiments getting across the border to Canada, where they'll suddenly be safe from Transigen's reach, but how?
The Likely Answer: The real answer is probably that Mangold had to find a way to draw a narrative line between the kids and Transigen, and making it a geographical one was just the easiest way to do it.
In terms of the story's own logic, perhaps Transigen has no legal means to operate in Canada, though it's a pretty big stretch to believe they wouldn't just do it in secret anyway.
This ends up lampshaded somewhat at the end, however, if you consider that everyone who knew where the kids were headed is now dead. So, that helps.
